The good news is that everything in Divine Finds will be on sale.

50% off all bric a brac...anything you can carry out of the store.
If you do catch me in a festive mood you may every be able to get a better deal if you are buying multiple items. So ladies please feel free to give me a call if anything in the photo takes your fancy. It's all got to go in 2 weeks!

English Sleigh Beds
I am going to list a few things I have for sale this week, starting with two delightful English sleigh beds. They were originally purchased from Michael's Antiques by designer Bronnie Masefau. She tells me they used to be sold for $1600 at Michael's. They are a single size bed and have been used by Bronnie's children before being passed down to me. You can see them featured in her book below. Although I have an overload of stock, I couldn't resist them! They are super cute and hard to come by these days. I have seen them painted in the past and they do look delightful.
I will be selling these privately for $499 each.
For viewing please feel free to contact me via email or phone.

Shop Update Underway!
It all started with this colour! And then I had to change the shop's wall colour. And then I had to get some new fabrics to cushion with! And it was nothing short of fabulous fun!
Here is our lovely Huon Pine cabinet getting painted. It went into the shop today. I'd say we are half way there with updating the shop and we are yet to bring in all our new stock and cushions. In fact, i am not sure I want to part with a few of them!

I've gone with a classic look for our new day bed. The frill on this cushion is gorgeous and really sits like a picture frame. We have lots of lovely navy and pink coming in towards Christmas.
My husband painted the shop walls a fresh stone grey colour today. I haven't seen the walls yet and I am really really nervous! Doc has said the colour has come out a little more green than the sample, so I am yet to see if I am majorly disappointed or I can live with it. I will have to go into the shop tomorrow and check it out.

Loving Mint
This post from Little French Nest excites me! I am obsessed with mint at the moment...and the mauve in this photo isn't bad either! It is popping up in my choice in clothes, nail polish and upholstery! I am painting a gorgeous cabinet in a fresh mint today and I can hardly wait. I will post some photos of the finished product when its done.

What I have been up to!
I feel like I have been away from blog land for such a long time. I have been so busy with such a vast range of things. Anyway, I have put together a few photos which show some of what I have been up to...
Our last Girls Night Out was last Wednesday night. It was a Candlelight High Tea with the most impressive entertainment. Here is us setting up and obsessing over the details. Don't miss the next one...only $12 for all this! The food was divine and was single handily made by one of my friends who loves cooking.
Here is a painting I picked up today for $6. I hope I can find the perfect place for it and I love yellow, mint and blue at the moment. Stay tuned for a massive shop update soon! By soon I mean next week...fingers crossed everything comes together and the weather permits.

My parents arrived back from a trip to England and Scotland. They brought me back this Victorian cup and saucer which is gorgeous. My father's family live there and it is always lovely to receive something that reminds me of them.
And you know what my husband is up to....trestles, benches, custom made planter boxes, kitchen tables...the list (and the work) goes on and on. It is such a pleasure to see someone find a piece of furniture from our shop which is perfect for their house. To see a ladies face light up makes it all worth while.

Fashion Shoot
A few months ago Divine Finds trestle tables and furniture were used for a photo shoot showcasing a new swimsuit range designed by award winning designer Amy Davidson. Amy is now in Paris but her lovely summer range is soon to be featured in a few fashion mags. I can't wait to see the results. In the meantime I have one very small preliminary photo for everyone. It was taken on the day of the fashion shoot and I love the Australian landscape and its colours.

A Magical Performer Arrives @ GNO
I met the most gorgeous girl in Cairns, Celine DeeAz. You can check her out on My Space or http://www.celinedeeaz.com/. She sings like Celine Dion, plays the viola and is just magical to watch. I am flying her down to perform at our next GIRLS NIGH OUT, Wednesday October 13th - 7.30pm @ 240 Stafford Rd, Stafford. We will be catering a Candlelight High Tea...promised to be divine. It's only $12 per ticket, so get on board ladies for a night out that you will be glad you made the effort to get out to! I only have 20 tickets left, and a few places at my table if anyone is interested.

David Downton - Wishlist
I just love David Downton's work. It is featured in Queens Park at the moment and I took a trip in to view it. It is refreshing and would look gorgeous in a bedroom, specifically my bedroom!!!! I couldn't download Valli 2008...but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. The yellow is amazing. You can enjoy it @ David Downton Fashion Art.

Today's Progress
Here is an updated picture of my painting after today's eight hour session! I definitely have looked at it too long. At this point I'm going to let it dry and revisit it in a week or so. I am wondering if there is any ingenious way to waterproof it so it can hang on the veranda. It would be totally exposed to the elements so it's a totally impractical idea but if anyone has any suggestions let me know! A good coat of lacquer might do the job!???

I have been painting
I have been painting. It's the first time in a long time, so please show me some kindness ladies! I"m looking for some support! Another excuse before I unveil....it looks better in real life!
I have set up in my living area, with a tone of old sheets on the floor to appease my husband who doesn't believe the paint will stay on the canvas and not the walls. I have really enjoyed experimenting with something a little more abstract and bold. I have tried to take the colours I loved from the vintage florals I brought this week and magnify them. It's a large canvas, approx 150 x 80cm.
My progress to date....

Anyone for Cooking with Small Acorns?
Small Acorns has the most wonderful giveaway available at the moment. It is an organic cookbook by Annabell Langbein. It is well worth checking out and putting your hand up for!

Todays Inspiration
I was scrolling through Scandinavian Chic's blog this morning and found a great post on art clusters . I stole some of her pics and added a few of my own.
The one below is my absolute favourite. I have a thing for florals at the moment but my house already has so many flower fabrics I'm going to have to mix it up. Im not sure who to credit this photo to sorry.
This neutral set is beautiful too...love the pale blue.

I have made a start
I have made a start. It isn't a grand start but it is a start none the less. I loved these two vintage florals I picked up at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre last week. I am sure they will look great as a part of a cluster for either my lounge or hallway. I haven't worked out exactly what is going where as yet! I have also purchase a canvas because I can't find artwork I like in the size I need...and I am impatient! So I am going to put pen to paper and design something I think I can live with. Fingers crossed with the results.

Bronnie's Website Live
Just putting in a plug for interior designer Bronnie Masefau whose website has just gone live. This is my favourite photos from her website. I love the painting...looks a little like Liz Trans work. It could be her children's for all I know! Anyway, you can check out lots more great pics

Hunt for Art
This print is by Kim Parker. They are always good value!
I have been hunting for the right piece of artwork today. I had a great time but there was simply too much to choose from! I feel in love with a few pieces but some aren't the right size for my space. Unfortunately I couldn't take photos so you can enjoy them with me! I would have loved to have shared some of them with you. Anyway, I think I have decided on a style - abstract floral which must contain some yellow!

Needing Fabric!
Can anyone help!??
I am looking for vintage fabric - florals, spots, stripes...anything special! Admittedly I am really fussy when it comes to fabric and I always have a image in my head which restricts things. I thought I'd put an SOS out there and ask if anyone has any good contacts or want to sell some of their collection!

French at Heart
There is a lovely shop at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre called "French at Heart". I have never met the owner so if you are out there...hi from Divine Finds! I visit this shop regularly, and although my home is far from french, I do find myself drawn to that style. I love delicate, pretty things, but like most good things they are better in moderation! Here are some pics I took this week. There is a marble topped gold coffee table featured in the last photo. I was definitely tempted to buy it!

Bird Palace
I brought a collection of bird cages this week. This one is staying at my place! I've called it my Bird Palace! I just feel in love with it. I am going to give it a really good clean and convert it into a lantern for my back deck. I can imagine it sitting on one of our trestle tables, alight with candles.

Ready for Sale
We have quite a few day beds in at the moment. This is one of my favourite styles which is currently selling for $660 in the shop. All of our daybeds are fully restored and refreshed in white ready to brighter up any deck. As you can see our front yard is a bit of a construction zone! I'll post a pic soon of a beautiful blue and white fabric we are currently using to upholster a day bed for a private client.

Eating Out
I love eating out. I find myself returning to a restuarant time and time again because of the atmosphere and decore rather than just the food. I'm one of those people who are quite conscious of the environment I am in. I love it when a restuarant makes you feel at home.
My husband and I went to the Sofitel in Brisbane on Friday night. We visit it often. I almost know every waiter by name as I go there for work quite a bit too. I loved these lanterns...
...and they always have a beauitful arrangement of flowers in the foyer.

My Dream Home
My dream home is actually my grandparents place. They live on a large corner block in. It place has gotten really run down since my grandfather passed away. He was a dedicated gardener! None the less it has all the ingredients that I would love to have in a home one day.
